Sigh…I really didn’t want to blog about this at all. However, there is a huge uproar right now in the SEO world on the validity of directories in regard to links. Rand at SEOMoz made a few posts that prompted a few bloggers to bite. One post in particular (I’m going to fore go the […]

Manicures and Martinis – Don’t Neglect Keyword Research

    26 July 2007

I’ve been spending the last few days with a team of developers creating a keyword research tool. We are pulling the information from a great number of areas, and will be providing results in a somewhat manual process (you usually find that the more automated the keyword research process, the less integrity you get as […]

What is SEO, and how important is it to my business?

    19 July 2007

SEO. Search Engine Optimization. This term is most commonly defined as “the method of modifying a site, it’s code, and it’s content, to achieve higher rankings in the search engines.” This definition is a bit vague, but put simply it is just that. With regard to SEO, you would make changes to your site based […]

    Don’t Trick The Search Engines

    10 July 2007

I think I’ve touched on this subject before, but the cycle seems to be coming to it’s beginning end. By that I mean, there seem to be chunks of time throughout the year when I see the a lot of new websites attempting the hidden text or becoming part of some link building scam in […]

Site Design, SEO, And A Real World Case

    9 July 2007

The best part of my consulting, full time job, is the large amount of case study. So many times a week I’m shown a site that has an “odd” problem. And the neatest part is that I get to educate and discuss SEO with other up-and-coming SEO’s.
Just last week, I was emailed a strange happening […]

    Header Tags and SEO

    2 July 2007

I recently got to have discussions with a few other SEO’s, and there was a topic dear to my heart that became the highlight in discussion. That was the importance of H tags. It so happens that some SEO’s do not hold the header tags as important at all, even discounting their use all together. […]

    16 April 2007

Matt Cutts wrote recently that he would much like people to report sites that sell/purchase paid links using the spam report on his blog. This is obviously causing something of an uproar because a lot of people make use of purchased text links for more than just ranking reasons.
But it seems that Google will […]

    Link Popularity

    11 April 2007

Because the blog will be ported over, I want to touch base on a lot of older topics, with an updated view. The first, and probably one of the most important of which is link popularity.
In the old days (no more than 2 years ago. That’s a long time ago in the www world), link […]

    9 October 2006

Blogging is an ever-growing method of networking on the Internet. This one, for example, was created to help beginners that I work with in consulting on search engine optimization. It since has grown out of that, but that was the original intent. A great deal of companies are using blogs as an avenue of marketing, […]

  • SEO-Factor: Search Engine Optimization & Website Marketing, Promotion FAQ’s, and help

    Non-Guarantees
Unless otherwise stated by gaurantee service, SEO Factor can neither guarantee a certain ranking nor a certain amount of traffic. These factors are sometimes beyond our control, depending on matters such as product(s) offered, saturation of industry, design of site, etc. We can, however, guarantee that all methods used have indeed worked for us and a great number of websites to which we serviced while working for a large website design and promotion company, and are accepted and ethical methods for search engine optimization.

    Guarantees

For the gaurantee service, SEO Factor will provide a page-one listing for the customer’s site as per the guaratee service’s details. This will mean that the customer will provide a list of 20 keywords/terms, SEO Factor will analyze these terms in accordance with the business’ industry, competition, and analysis of keyword effectiveness. SEO Factor will then provide the promise of a page-one listing in at a minimum of 1 of the MAJOR search engines. (Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask.com, Lycos, America Online.) for at a minimum of 5 of the 20 specified terms as noted in the intial agreement. Once agreed on these terms, the effective date begins, marking the beginning of the 9 month period in which SEO Factor has to rank the site under these terms.

Any Web site that is all Flash, contains frames/layers or adult content is not eligible for the guarantee. Guarantees may be voided for, among other reasons, Web sites that have downtime for one day or more, Web sites that have been altered after they have been optimized by SEO Factor, Web sites that are cloned, or that do not use 301 for redirects.

If customers do not respond to communications from SEO Factor for more than 60 days, the optimization project may be considered “abandoned” and payment will be surrendered in full.

For optimization package (“Page One Guarantee Service”), SEO Factor guarantees a minimum number of top ten listings in one or more of 6 search engines within 9 months from completion date. SEO Factor will only provide the guaranteed service to sites in the United States. The search engines included are: AOL, Google, Yahoo!, Ask.com (formerly known as AskJeeves), MSN, and Lycos. The minimum number of top ten listings guaranteed is 5 for the 20 keyword phrase list provided by the customer and agreed upon by SEO Factor. There is no guarantee for the “Home Page Optimization” and “Full Site Optimization” packages. The guarantee is a 50% money back guarantee, subject to these and the other terms and conditions of our Services Agreement, provided at the 9 month mark from date of completion if results are not obtained. In no event will SEO Factor be liable to you for any lost profits, lost savings, or other incidental or consequential damages arising from the optimization services provided.

This service(s) does not guarantee any sales or traffic to your Web site. Traffic and sales depend upon the demand for your particular product or service, the design and layout of your Web site, and many other factors that are beyond the control of SEO Factor.

    Warranty – Section 3

3.1 Warranty. SEO Factor warrants that Client will obtain the promised results within 9 months of the Effective Date for service that yields gaurantees. Client shall not perform or allow any changes to SEO Factor’s optimized source code once it has been inserted into Client’s web page specified herein, nor shall Client perform or allow any additional standard submissions of said web page to any search engines, nor shall Client perform or allow SEO Factor’s optimized source code to be inserted into any web page other than the page specified in this Agreement, without the prior knowledge and approval of SEO Factor. Client shall not fail to perform (or prevent SEO Factor from performing) correct insertion of all of SEO Factor’s optimized source code into the web page specified herein. Any such actions on the part of Client as described in this Section of this Agreement shall void this warranty. It is the sole responsibility of the client to monitor said website to ensure the accurate and consistent placement of the source code provided by the SEO Factor.

    3.2 Warranty Disclaimer.

EXCEPT AS STATED IN THIS SECTION 3, EACH PARTY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT WITH RESPECT TO ANY TECHNOLOGY OR SERVICES USED IN PERFORMANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT. NEITHER PARTY WARRANTS THAT ITS WEB PAGE(S) WILL OPERATE ERROR-FREE OR WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.

    3.3 50% REFUND.

IF SEO Factor BREACHES THE WARRANTY AS SET FORTH IN SECTION 3, SEO Factor SHALL NOTIFY CLIENT BY EMAIL WITHIN 180 DAYS OF EFFECTIVE DATE THAT THE PROMISED RESULTS HAVE NOT BEEN ACHIEVED, THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ENTITLED TO A REFUND OF HALF OF SET-UP AND ADMINISTRATION FEES, AND ALL OF THE MONTHLY CHARGES. CLIENT’S SOLE REMEDY SHALL CONSIST OF RECEIVING A REFUND OF HALF THE COST OF THE SET-UP AND ADMINISTRATION FEES AND ALL OF THE MONTHLY CHARGES. SAID REQUEST FOR REFUND SHALL TERMINATE COMPANY’S DUTY TO PROVIDE SERVICES. Client may request the refund by telephone 904-945-0395, by mail (SEO Factor, c/o Cancellations, 2200 Ashwood Dr, Middleburg, FL 32068) by email (info@seo-factor.com), within the initial 180 day term of this Agreement.

    Access

In order to provide on page optimization, SEO Factor will need access to your hosting account to make the necessary changes. There are some services that require you to download software in order to make changes to your site. For this reason, we will not be able to provide services for these websites. We’ve never been much for contracts, so the Monthly Maintenance service is month to month, and can be cancelled at any time. Due to the nature of the service, the On Page Optimization plans will require payment before services are rendered. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us here.

    Our Partners

From time to time, SEO Factor will refer you to other services/companies for further assitance such as outer marketing and website design. We have worked with these partners before, and have had a great past experience. However, we can not vouche for any guarantees of service or satisfaction for these partners.

    Do SEO Yourself (Tutorial)

SEO is an acronym for “Search Engine Optimization” It is the process of analyzing your potential design and problems for search engines indexing and positioning. In other words, making your web site and its content attractive, relevant and visible to search engines and web searchers.

There is nothing worse than having a beautiful web site with excellent written content, though you still lose traffic or you even keep potential visitors away, while your site cannot be found.

Before you begin optimizing your pages for Search Engines, consider that the following search engine optimization techniques are SPAM!

    • automatically generated doorway pages
    • cloaking and false redirects
    • keyword stuffing
    • hidden text or hidden links
    • pages loaded with irrelevant words
    • duplicated content on multiple pages
    • misspelling of well-known web sites
    • unrelated and centralized link farms
    • other methods that try to trick search engines

If you use one of the above techniques, you might get short term results, but it’s most likely that your site will be banned from search engines, and therefore you will put your business at severe risk. You will have more success, if you will optimize your site for humans, and not machines. Please report broken links or other issues, as misleading information, etc.
